To the editor:
Memorial Day weekend is filled with outdoor activities such as barbecues, boating and camping. And if your holiday includes enjoying a cold beer or two, itís important to remember responsibility matters.
By drinking responsibly an designating a driver, we can all help keep our roads and highways safe. And, we can be proud that we are doing our part to prevent drunk driving. Because of efforts like these, drunk-driving fatalities over the Memorial Day weekend are down 36 percent over the past two decades, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Fortunately, millions of Americans are joining in the fight against drunk driving. A recent survey conducted by Data Development Corporation found that more than 122 million American adults have been a designated driver of have been driven home by one.
Letís continue to drive drunk-driving fatalities lower by making responsible choices this Memorial Day weekend. Everyone can make a difference in the fight against drunk driving.
