The North Branch girls golf team ended its regular season at a Rum River Conference meet May 19 at Mora.
The Vikings earned 6 points to finish the season in a tie for second place with Pine City. Milaca claimed first place to repeat as conference champs.
For North Branch, Lacee Scherer led with rounds of 44 and 55 for 99 total. Kelsey Johnson turned in 52 and 48 for 100, Amy Aho had 50 and 52 for 102 and Kelsey Perreault had 55 and 51 for 106. Hanna Lindberg finished with rounds of 52 and 55 for 107 and Sara Schwable turned in 56 and 56 for 112.
ìWe had some good rounds especially from Lacee, who tied her best nine hole score of the year with a 44, and Kelsey Johnson who shot below 50 for the first time ñ ever,î Head Coach Dave Ambers said.
He was pleased with the improvement of the team this year during conference play. ìWe were sixth years ago, fourth in 2003 and tied for second this year,î he said.
The Vikings will now prepare for section play, starting with the opening round Thursday, May 27 at Hinckleyís Grand National. Section finals will also be at Hinckley, set for Monday, May 31.
