Driving is a privilege, not a right

To the editor:
Last Friday May21, my husband and 5-year-old son were visiting with our neighbor. While they were visiting on his property a car came driving extremely fast nearly hitting my son, my husband and our neighbor.

The driver of the car was a young man. As he got to the end of our road he got out of the car and traded places with the woman passenger. My husband asked him what he thought he was doing; he said you nearly hit us. The young man just swore at my husband. My husband then said I will call the police. The girl said she was not to blame because he was driving and that he had no driverís license anyway. She then drove off. Luckily my husband got the license plate number. We called the police and they took a statement. Later we found out the young man had a warrant out for his arrest and the his license was revoked. My concern is that these two people had little or no regard for human life. This is a normal occurrence in our neighborhood with the drivers driving too fast and this time it almost cost three people their lives. I want all the young people to remember driving is not a right it is a privilege.
