The Rush City track teams earned 9 all-conference awards at the Great River Conference meet May 18 at Hinckley. The girls team combined for 8 first place finishes and several other finishes in the top six to take the GRC title as well.
Christine Frandsen was first in the 1600m run and 3200m run for two all-conference awards. Alex Saxton also earned all-conference in two events, with a first in the 100m dash and first in the 200m dash. Amber Hoffman was first in the 400m dash for all-conference honors and Liz Melin was first in the 300m hurdles for an all-conference award.
The 4 x 100m relay team and 4 x 400m relay team both took first place for all-conference in those events. Team members on the 4 x 100m were Christine Moore, Amy Bengtson, Katy Buckholtz and Saxton. Team members on the 4 x 400m were Moore, Melin, Hoffman and Chelsea Peterson.
On the boys team, Jeff Jennings brought home the lone all-conference award, taking first in the high jump by clearing 5í8î. Josh Dahl finished second in the 1600m run and the 3200m run for the boys.
Rush City hosts the 4A subsection meet today, Wednesday, May 26 to start playoff action.
