Work begins on Hwy. 8

Road work may cause some delays this month

Posted: 5/5/04

Repairs to Highway 8 began May 3 between the west junction of Highway 95 to Taylors Falls in Chisago County. Repairs will include guardrail installation and striping and signal work.

Hwy. 8 will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. on May 17 for resurfacing of the roadway. During the road closure traffic on eastbound Hwy. 8 will be detoured to Hwy. 95, over to Hwy. 243 in Wisconsin and then to Hwy. 35 and back to Hwy. 8. Westbound traffic on Hwy. 8 will be reversed with traffic detoured to Hwy. 35 down to Hwy. 243 then to Hwy. 35 and back to Hwy. 8.

Advance warning signs will be posted to alert motorists of the road closure. The road closure will end on May 21, however, there will continue to be single lane closures and flagging operations until the project is completed in late May.

Mn/DOT urges motorists to drive with caution, reminding them to slow down in the work zone and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
