RC crushes MBA in huge 27-0 shut-out

The Rush City softball squad won three games in a row starting April 22 with a 12-4 win against East Central and ending with a football-like score of 27-0 over Minneapolis Business Academy April 29.

The Tigers tallied 7 hits against the Eagles for their first win of the season April 22. Senior Mindy Scott was 3 for 4 in the game. Senior Shannon Karvonen earned the win for the Tigers.

A big 7 run second inning gave the Tigers a 10-3 win against Isle April 26.

Rush City started it off with 2 runs in the first inning on walks to junior Breann Stottler and Scott and a double from senior Sandy Johnson.
After the Huskies scored 1 in the first, the Tigers put it out of reach with 7 in the second on hits from senior Ashley Stanley, Scott and junior Kallie Pauza-Moore.

Isle came up with 2 runs in the sixth before Rush City added 1 in the seventh for the 10-3 win.

Rush City had 6 hits in the game. Karvonen pitched the win, with Stottler coming in for relief.

The Tigers rocked Minneapolis Business Academy for 27 runs on 13 hits in 5 innings April 29 for its third win in a row.

Rush City wasted no time getting started in the first, taking a 5-0 lead on a single from Stanley and 6 walks.

The squad went on to score 11 runs in the second. Stanley, senior Holly Grimes and juniors Brittany Wendorf and Jen Benson came up with singles in the inning.

Rush City added 4 in the third and 7 in the fourth for the 27-0 shut out.

Karvonen pitched the first four innings for Rush City, striking out 7 and allowing 1 hit. Stottler came in for relief in the fifth, striking out the side.
Rush City ended the week with a 10-0 loss in 5 innings to Grantsburg. The Tigers had only 4 hits in the game as Stottler, Stanley, Scott and Johnson all singled.

This week, the team was scheduled to take on Ogilvie Tuesday and Aitkin Thursday, May 6 in two home games. They travel to Hinckley-Finlayson Tuesday, May 11.
