NB soccer teams honor the seasonís best

The North Branch boysí and girlsí soccer teams put the finishing touches on their 2004 seasons with presentation of honors and awards.

The boys banquet was held Oct. 25 and the girls on Nov. 4.

The honorees on the boysí team were:
MVP offense: senior Travis Olson, the team leader with 8 goals and more than 30 percent of the team goals.
MVP defense: senior captain David Stark.
Overall MVP: senior captain Steven Grand.
Rookie of the Year: 7th grade starter for much of the season, Brian Grand.

Coaches Award for Commitment, Integrity and Attitude: senior fullback Greg Moriarity.
The following players were awarded letters: 7th grader Brian Grand; 8th grader Drew Lundquist; freshmen Greg Arnt and Zach Brandstrom; juniors Ryan Decorsey, Anthony Vilaysack and Matt Jorgenson; seniors Steven Grand, Nate Harrington, Andy Kittelson, Jake Lane, Greg Moriarity, Travis Olson and David Stark.
Coach Brad Gustafson thanked Dominoís Pizza, North Branch AmericInn and Dairy Queen for sponsoring the banquet.
On the girls team, honorees were:
MVP: senior Dottie Graff.

Best offensive players: junior Brittany Bartylla and sophomore Heather Schwab.

Best defensive player: junior Julia Call.

Most improved player: freshman Kristen Kaminski.

Viking Spirit Award: senior Meaghan Vaughn and sophomore Hannah Prigge.

Hardest worker: freshman Kristen Robatcek.

Captains for next year: Call, Prigge, Natalia LaHood.

The boys team finished the season at 2-14-1 while the girls ended up 2-15.
