To the editor:

Many years of concern and interest will be observed Nov. 14-20 ñ this week.
This week is the annual nationwide observance of American Education Week.
Since 1921, the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary and other professional groups have promoted this observance. This yearís theme is ìCelebrating the American Dream.î

For many years the ìAmerican Dreamî has translated into the best education you could have. This yearís theme should remind each of us that we have a duty and a responsibility to see that our children are prepared to take up the roles of citizens and leaders in the years to come.

The American Legion and the Auxiliary promote education through many of their programs ñ promoting citizenship and patriotism, promoting scholarships, providing Boys and Girls State, and providing flag etiquette, among other projects, that come up in a year.

We reaffirm our commitment to improving and supporting education at all levels and ask you to join us ñ visit schools, make yourself aware of the fine education our children receive.

Thank you to all school district employees who work with and for our children every day.
