The Rush City cross country varsity boys and girls teams each placed third in the Pine City Invitational Sept. 9, while the junior varsity boys team took first place.
Rush City had the top two 7th grade girls in the 7th and 8th grade race, with Kelsey Fleming placing first.
Individual performances of note include senior Christine Frandsenís third place finish with a run of 16:50, Amber Hoffman at 12th, and sophomore Josh Dahlís 8th place finish after running a sub 6 minute pace.
Coach Kevin Smith said, ìMost of our runners ran faster mile paces than last week. This is a key to improving the finish place. We are real happy with all the efforts from junior high to varsity. The kids are seeing the results of working hard every day in practice.
ìFor future improvement the boys need to close the gap from our first runner to our last runner. Now it is about 90 seconds and we need it to be 30 to 40 seconds for more success.î
Next up is the North Branch Invitational at the North Branch Golf Course Sept. 16 at 4 p.m.
