Herman D. Haak

Rev. Herman D. Haak, 88, of Wausau, Wisc. died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born April 29, 1916 in East Chain, Minn. to the late John and Anna (Eggers) Haak. He lived with his family on their farm near Pilot Grove, Minn. Herman attended grade school at East Chain Consolidated School and high school and college at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn. While attending Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois, Herman married Selda Kruse of Truman, Minn. on September 25, 1943.

After graduating from the seminary in 1945, Reverend Haak served congregations in Hillsboro, Ill., Perham, Lakefield, Okabena, North Branch, and Bellingham, Minn., Staplehurst and Marysville, Neb. and Keller, Texas. He also served as University Hospital Chaplain in Iowa City, Iowa.

Herman enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, taking long walks and just being outdoors.Ý Survivors include three sons, Daniel Haak of Austin, Texas, John (Darlene) Haak of Ft. Collins, Colo., Armand (Karen) Haak of St. Charles, Missouri, three daughters, Marlys (David) Hartman of Wausau, Wisc., Rhoda Brewer of Keller, Texas, Charlotte (Greg) Shea of Hurst, Texas, twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Selda, four brothers and three sisters.

Services was held Tuesday, Aug. 31, at St. Paulís Lutheran Church, Lakefield, MN. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Fairmont, Minn. Hansen Funeral Home, Lakefield, Minn. assisted the family with arrangements.
