When it gets cold in Minnesota, nobody wants to take their dog outside to bathe them.
Then again, nobody really wants dog hair clogging their shower drains either.
Thatís where Annieís Pet Parlor comes in.
Carol ìAnnieî Hophan open the professional pet grooming shop in the Main Street Market building as the fulfillment of a long-time dream.
Hophan has been a pet groomer for years and has built up expertise by caring for nearly every breed of dog one could imagine.
She still works part-time at a pet grooming shop in Blaine, but hopes to be full time in Rush City soon.
Grooming is an integral part of pet health, Hophan said. If dogs, especially those with thick or long coats, are not groomed properly mats form and can create a painful situation for the animals as well as foster infestations of bugs.
Hophan suggests that pets get regular grooming ñ about every two months.
Prices for full service, which includes a wash, dry, clip and fluff, start at $20 and can increase dependent upon the amount of work needed on the petís coat. However, Hophan encourages pet owners to bring their animals to the store so she can give an estimate on cost.
Self-serve grooming is available for owners who prefer to groom their own pets. Owners can use all of the supplies at Annieís.
Regular hours are Thursday through Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For appointments, call (320) 358-4456.
