The Foley Falcons controlled just about every aspect of the Sept. 17 contest against North Branch, winning convincingly 26-6.
The game, a home game for Foley, was played at St. Cloud State University.
The Vikingsí lone score came in the second quarter on a 23 yard pass from Matt Warren to Eddie Meier. The extra point attempt failed.
The Falcons jumped out to a 13-0 lead by the end of the first quarter, scoring two touchdowns on drives of 69 and 49 yards.
Foley took a 19-6 lead into the locker room at halftime following a 9 yard touchdown run with 16 seconds left in the half.
The Vikings were able to hold the Falcons scoreless in the third quarter, but the Falconsí tough defense did likewise to the Vikings.
Foley intercepted a Vikings pass late in the fourth quarter and ran it back 35 yards for the final scoring play of the game.
Foley held an edge of 27:04 to 19:40 in time of possession, racking up 338 total yards in offense to the Vikingsí 234.
The one area where North Branch bested Foley was in penalties. The Vikings had 4 for 25 yards while the Falcons had 10 for 60 yards.
Coach Joel Swanson said part of the problem was lack of mental preparation at the beginning of the game.
ìThey took it to us in the first half. We played better in the second half, but we need to be mentally into it come opening kick off. ìWe need to learn from this game and move on,î Swanson said.
The Vikings are 2-1 on the season.
