Providers Choice is encouraging parents with children in child care to show their appreciation for their child care provider on Friday, May 6, Provider Appreciation Day.

Child care organizations nationwide will come together to celebrate providers on this day, appropriately set for the Friday before Motherís Day.

The week leading up to this special day has been named ìFamily Child Care Week.î

It is estimated that of the 21 million children under age 6 in America, 13 million are in child care at least part time. An additional 24 million school-age children are in some form of child care outside of school time.

Provider Appreciation Day offers a unique opportunity to recognize and commend the dedication, compassion and family values that child care providers demonstrate every day.

Many providers participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program, which helps ensure that children are fed healthy, nutritious meals while they are in a child care setting.
