From the school district
North Branch Area Public Schools has selected Brad Windschill to be the new North Branch High School principal pending contract negotiations.
Windschill has been assistant principal at Cambridge-Isanti High School since August 1996.
He served as Dean of Students for Blaine High School from 1994-1996. Windschill was also Educational Cooperative Director for the East Central Minnesota Educational Cable Cooperative from 1983-1992 and has served in the classroom capacity as a media director and classroom teacher. He will begin his duties as NBHS principal July 1, 2005.
Windschill, who lives in Harris, said he was happy to be hired for the job.
ìItís a great opportunity to join a high school that happens to be in my back yard,î he said.
The North Branch School District uses site-based budgets, which leave some budget decisions to a particular school instead of the district as a whole. Windschill said he is familiar with this concept. Two schools he has worked at in the past, Blaine and Princeton, used a form of site-based budgeting.
ìI am not new to the concept,î he said.
Windschill said he is ready to move on from Cambridge.
ìIt has been a great time (in Cambridge), but I am ready to take a step to the next level and be in a position to help guide high school faculty,î he said.
A committee of school board members, administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals and high school parents selected Windschill from a candidate pool of more than 30 applicants. Late last fall, current NBHS Principal, Dr. Michael Trok announced his plans to retire at the end of the 2004-2005 school year after more than 30 years in education.
