The North Branch boysí and girlsí track teams opened the season competing at the Rum River Conference Indoor on Apr. 1 at Foley and the Chisago Lakes Indoor at Blaine Apr. 5.

The girls team placed 2nd overall at Foley, and the boys finished 6th. The Chisago meet at Blaine was not scored, so there were no team places.

ìI was pleased with our first two meets,î said Coach Brian Hasleiet. He said about 2/3 of the team competed at Foley and nearly the entire team competed at Blaine.

Boys results
Senior Al Moore was perfect in the two meets, winning firsts in both high jump and the 55m hurdles.
Senior Bill Oehlers placed first in both meets in the shot put.

Other first place finishers on the boysí team at Blaine were Nick Ramberg, 1600m and Joe Lofboom, pole vault.

RRC meet: Nick Sausen, 2nd, 800m; Terrence Salminen, 6th, 200m; Ryan Decorsey, 4th, pole vault; Matt and Mike Carlson, 7th place tie, 55m dash; 4x200 relay (Beason Xiong, Salminen, Decorsey, Steven Grand), 6th; 4x100 relay (Grand, Matt and Mike Carlson, Decorsey), 3rd.

Chisago Lakes meet:
Cody Good, 5th, 1600m; Mitch Pohlkamp, 8th, 1600m and 8th, 800m; Adam Gades, 4th, 400m dash; Aaron Cedergren, 3rd, 800m; Matt Carlson, 2nd, 200m dash; Marc VandenHeuvel, 2nd, long jump; Decorsey, 4th, pole vault; Mike Carlson, 5th, 55m dash; Jack Xiong, 12th, 55m dash; Jerrad Beach, 10th, 55m hurdles; 4x800 relay (Cedergren, Gades, Ramberg, Sausen), 2nd; 4x200 relay (Mike Carlson, Salminen, Grand, VandenHeuvel) 3rd; 4x400 relay (Keli, Korey Hutchings, Salminen, Lofboom), 2nd; 800m spring relay (Grand, Keli, Lofboom, Salminen), 3rd; 800m sprint medley relay (VandenHeuvel, Matt Carlson, Hutchings, Decorsey) 4th.

Girls results
The Vikings recorded several first place finishes in the two meets. Seventh grader Haley Haseleit won the 3200m at the RRC and the 1600m at Blaine. North Branch swept the top 3 spots in that race, with Tiffany Peterson finishing 2nd and Aileen Shanley 3rd.

Likewise, North Branch swept the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes in shot put at Chisago Lakes with Shelly Oehlers, Hannah Forstrom and Claire Williams, respectively.

Other first place finishers at Blaine were Jenny Anderson, high jump and Trissica Bye, pole vault.

Anderson also placed first in the 55m hurdles at the RRC meet, as did Oehlers in shot put.

Additionally, North Branch won four of the six relay races run at Blaine: 4x800 (Hasleiet, Maggie Kriz, Rachel Souther, Miranda Charley); 4x200 (Mandy Johnson, Megan Stegmeir, Alyssa Houle, Kacie Ramberg); 4x400 (Ashley Steele, Tess Prouty-Kunshier, Ramberg, Anderson); 800m sprint medley (Houle, Bye, Prouty-Kunshier, Cori Fairbanks).
