Loren Gordon Johnson, the son of Albert and Hortense (LaVine) Johnson, was born March 28, 1928 in Chicago, Ill. He grew up and attended school in the area near Clarissa and Browerville, Minn.
In 1959, Loren and his parents moved to a farm near Rush Lake, which is located a few miles west of Rush City, Minn.
Loren was employed as a sheet metal operator and worked in the Twin Cities at Seegers, the forerunner of Whirlpool, and also at Alumacraft, Donaldson Air Cleaner, and Jacobson Machine in Golden Valley, Minn. He was well known as a neighborhood mechanic and often spent his spare time repairing cars, lawnmowers, and bicycles.
During his retirement years Loren enjoyed traveling, and traveled extensively throughout the western states of California, Utah, Washington, Montana, and Nevada. He also traveled to Alaska and Canada.
Loren died March 28, 2005 at the Green Acres Country Care Center in North Branch, Minn. at the age of 77 years. He is survived by several cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hortense (Harte) Johnson.
A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the
Olson Chapel in Rush City with Pastor David Melin officiating. Music was provided by Pat Stenmo. A spring interment is scheduled at the Rush Lake Baptist Cemetery in Rush Point, Minn.
