Jack Schultz, author of ìBoomtown USA,î will speak at the Northern Technologies Initiative annual meeting at East Central Energy (ECE) in Braham on May 10.
Since Schultz began his Boomtown speaking tour in February 2004, he has traveled the country sharing his message of optimism for the future of small town America.
Schultz is founder and CEO of Agracel, Inc., an industrial development firm majoring in small town America. Agracel began in 1986 with an agricultural focus, but soon Schultz steered the company toward job creation in his hometown, Effinham, Ill. Agracelís first development project was created in 1993 and since then Agracel has completed over 50 projects that have facilitated more than 4,000 jobs in small towns throughout eight Midwestern and southeastern states.
The Northern Technology Initiative is a collaborative effort between city and county governments, state agencies, colleges, economic development groups and private industry in East Central Minnesota.
The group, for which Pine Technical College serves as headquarters and lead institution, intends to establish a planned economic development and industrial recruitment effort along the I-35 corridor between St. Paul and Duluth.
The idea began at Pine Technical College and has captured the imaginations of such partners as Minnesota Technologies, the Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic Development, area legislators, and city and county officials across the region.
