Lawrence W. Peterson

Lawrence W. Peterson, age 88, of Roseville, was born in Spring Lake to Charles and Alma Swenson Peterson on March 14, 1917. He died peacefully on Aug. 6, 2005 in Roseville, Minn. in a garden surrounded by trees and flowers.
Swedish being his first language, he was baptized and confirmed at Spring Lake Lutheran Church and served as president of the Luther League.

His marriage to Dorothy Gustafson was on Feb. 12, 1941 and he farmed and delivered mail at Spring Lake. After moving to Roseville, they continued their connection to Spring Lake by annually attending Memorial Day celebrations and kroppkaka dinners. In Roseville, he continued his farming on one acre of land.
Lawrence was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Sjoquist and Hazel Peterson. He will be deeply missed by Dorothy, his beloved wife of 64 years; son Leroy (Donna); daughters Rev. Jean Greenwood and Fay (David) Kotilinek; grandchildren Jay and Elissa Johnson, Dawn Whalen, Sara Peterson, Jessie and Brita Kotilinek; and great-grandchild Grace Whalen.

He was a railway postal clerk for 38 years, avid gardener, poet, PTA leader, the first president of Roseville Lutheran Church, and sang wit the St. Paul Swedish Male Chorus. He loved everything Swedish and was appreciated by all for being gentle, kind, and dependable.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 11., 11 a.m. at the Roseville Lutheran Church, 1215 W. Roselawn Ave. Interment at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11,
at Spring Lake Cemetery in North Branch. Visitation at Roseville Lutheran Church 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services. Memorials preferred.
