Project Hope North, Inc., a Forest Lake-based disaster aid program, along with the Hugo American Legion Post #620, conducted a collection of requested items for military personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan this spring.

Director Christ Bairaktaris recently reported that they sent 416 packages totalling 12,521 pounds containing over $22,000 worth of goods to the soldiers in those countries, some of which have local connections.

Major Kristi Johnson of North Branch is part of the Iraqi unit ñ Marine Wing Support Squadron 472.

Bairaktaris would like to thank the many people and merchants who helped with the supplies and money for the shipping costs.
