Abortions down in Minnesota

TO THE EDITOR:

The Minnesota Department of Health reported in July that 13,788 abortions were performed in Minnesota in 2004. That number is down from previous years by 386, which is good news. However, post-abortion complications rose 8 percent. These complications include hemorrhage, infections requiring hospitalization and incomplete abortions.

Here in Chisago County, there were 71 abortions performed in 2004. We can do better.

There are nearly 100 pregnancy care centers in Minnesota where pregnant women can find the practical support and help they need to give life to their unborn babies.

Pro-life citizens want to help women with positive alternatives to abortion. No pregnant woman in Chisago County should ever feel that abortion is her only option. For more information and a list of all pregnancy care centers in the state, visit www.mccl.org.
