Daughter defends her mother

TO THE EDITOR:

I am the daughter of the Harris City Clerk. My mom has not done anything illegal and puts a lot of devotion and her heart into her job with all the demands she has. I have licked stamps, stuffed envelopes, picked up garbage around the city and have cleaned city hall just to help my mom out. She has been ridiculed, threatened, defamation of character, lied to and tormented by certain council and residents of the city. I have heard rumors myself that certain council and certain residents should be ashamed of. I thought you were adults!

She puts in a lot of extra time that she doesnít get paid for like shopping for city supplies, taking phone calls at night and typing minutes. And she has been accused of not doing her job! Tell you what folks, she puts a lot of extra energy into her job that nobody notices. I have sat through meetings, listened to tapes and read minutes. It is about time some council members and residents hear me out. I am 11 years old and an above average student. After being raised by my mom working government all my life, I have learned a lot and I have the knowledge to do my research. First off donít ever accuse my mom of not doing her job or not doing it right. She does her job and is good at it! You people of the city need to stand up for my mom. She will go out of her way to help anybody that needs it. In the past one particular resident needed help.

My mom helped with the grocery shopping, rides to doctor appointments, picked up prescriptions, so she could help when it was needed on her own time. She has been threatened since the new council that she will loose her job. What has she done so wrong? If my mom takes a vacation like she deserves, itís not really a vacation. She still checks messages, responds to them, and makes sure everything is done that needs to be. We just donít go on a work-free vacation.
I am a frustrated 11 year old seeing how my mom is treated by some council
members and certain residents of the city.
