Ever heard of the Crisis Nursery? We hadnít either until we started this community service project, called Caring for Kids.

We are members of the North Branch Youth Advisory Board at the Youth Service Bureau. The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is a group of teens that work to improve our community. We are trying to develop our leadership and communication skills by helping the people around us. We balance work and fun! We are writing today to tell the community about how we helped the Crisis Nursery, and to tell North Branch about what YAB is offering to the community.

Through our Caring for Kids project, YAB was able to help the Chisago County Crisis Nursery and the families that the Crisis Nursery serves. Caring for Kids was a part of our overall group service project goal to make the community a better place. By completing this project, YAB was able to supply the Crisis Nursery with 64 childrenís clothing items, 900 diapers, and 22 packages of baby wipes. On July 28, YAB presented these items to the Crisis Nursery. All of these donations will now be given to Crisis Nursery clients in need.

Caring for Kids was a great chance for YAB to help the community! It took lots of planning and work to pull it together, but it was rewarding in the end. We, the members of YAB, played a large role in this project, but it could not have been possible without the help of Youth As Resource (YAR). YAB thanks YAR for providing us with a grant allowing us the opportunity to purchase these supplies for the Crisis Nursery.

YAB is open to teens in grades 6-12 in the North Branch area, and we are always looking for new members to help us with projects like this.
