George Michael Buckley, died at the home of his son in Finlayson, Minn. on Dec. 10, 2005 at the age of 90 years.
George, the son of Michael and Louise (Swartz) Buckley, was born Nov. 3, 1915 in Pine City, Minn.
He married Marion Bobzin on Nov. 23, 1937, and they made their home in Pine City, Minn.
During World War II, George joined the military and was stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he opened a plumbing business in Pine City and he and Marion also owned and operated the Pine CafČ and gas station.
Later George and Marion moved to the Rush City area and built a home on Rush Lake. He and his son, Richard, started a plumbing business in St. Paul, which George eventually retired from.
Following Marionís death, George moved to live with his son, Steven, on his farm in Finlayson, Minn. There he lived out his life doing the things he loved to do. He will be lovingly missed by his family.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Eyvonne Buckley of Oakdale, Minn., Gary and Judy Buckley of Forest Lake, Minn., and Steven Buckley of Finlayson, Minn.; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; his brothers and sister-in-law: Leo and Alvira Buckley of Ramsey, Minn. and Mitch Buckley of Pine City; sisters: Sarah Anderson of Manhattan Beach, Calif. and Cecelia Henderson of Cambridge, Minn.; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Louise Buckley, Marion, his wife of 62 years, sisters Marie Graham, Ann Mills, Theresa Bobzin, his brother Henry Buckley and grandson David.
A time of visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec.14, at the Olson Chapel in Rush City. A memorial service will follow the visitation with Father Xavier Thelakkatt presiding. A spring interment is planned in the St. Johnís Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City.
