At a recent meeting in Mora, the East Central Arts Council (ECAC) elected Lenore Whitney Karash as a board member representing Isanti County.
During her two-year term, Karash will participate with ECACís 11-member volunteer board of directors. The board is composed of artists, art advocates and arts enthusiasts from across the five-county Region 7E (Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine counties.)
Karash, of Isanti, is a music educator, a percussionist and pianist. She is currently performing with Grace Alone at Cambridge Lutheran Church. Karash is an instrumental music educator for the Cambridge-Isanti Public Schools.
Karash has 29 years of professional teaching experience, was formerly the ECAC emeritus representative, was on the National Lutheran Choir Advisory Board, is a member of the Minnesota Education Association, the Minnesota Music Educators Association, the National Band Association, and the American Choral Directors Association. She also is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 290, and is the Secretary for the Collie Club of Minnesota. She is the recipient of many professional and personal honors and awards.
The East Central Arts Council, is a program of the East Central Regional Development Commission. It is an organization for improving the quantity and quality of all arts in the region. This is accomplished primarily through grant-making for organizations and individuals.
According to Karash, ěMusical art is the voice of the soul. It is an expression of thoughts and feelings that have no words. Performance art is the blending of the composers written music, the vision of the director, and the talent and interpretation of the performers. It is the illusion made real by the performers and heard by the listeners. The sound is instantaneous, but the memories last of lifetime.î
