Fairview Lakes Health Services Moms in Motion aerobic exercise class marks its fifth anniversary in 2006.ÝMoms in Motion is a supervised, low-impact aerobic exercise class for women who are pregnant or have recently had a child. Sessions are offered from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. twice a week for six weeks at Fairview Chisago Lakes Clinic on Stinson Ave., just off Hwy. 8 in Chisago City.

The next session begins Jan. 17 and ends Feb. 23.

To celebrate five years of success, Fairview Lakes is offering a free 30-minute massage to any past participant who returns to the class and/or who brings along a friend or relative. The offer is good for both the winter and spring 2006 sessions.ÝInstructor Beth Glenna emphasizes that pregnancy and childbirth donít have to mean an end to healthy exercise. In fact, pregnant women who exercise can expect an average of two hours less labor time, improved circulation, increased muscle tone and improved posture.

With their doctors approval women who feel up to it can exercise right up to the time of delivery. If a woman delivers during the six-week session, she will be credited for the classes missed which can be made up as soon as her doctors approves her returning to the program after delivery. Moms who have recently delivered are welcome to bring their new babies with them to class until the babies learn to crawl.

The program is designed to:

ï Improve physical condition
ï Decrease weight gain
ï Promote weight loss after delivery
ï Prepare expectant mothers for the work of delivery
ï Increase energy level of class participants.

In addition to safe, effective exercise, Moms in Motion provides an opportunity for women to discuss matters of concern to them during and after pregnancy.

Cost for 12 supervised exercise sessions is $50. Prior to the first session participants are asked to sign a consent form and obtain a signed physician approval. To register and obtain the necessary forms, call Fairview Lakes Rehabilitation at (651) 257-8469.
