Clemens Gilbert Norlund, age 74 of North Branch, passed away on Nov. 29, 2005 at his home.
Clemens was born July 18, 1931 in North Branch, Minn. to Gilbert and Lottie (Sederberg) Norlund. Clemens was baptized Aug. 17, 1931 at Fish Lake Lutheran Church in Stark and on June 24, 1945 he was confirmed at Fish Lake.
Clemens attended Reeds School in Stark and later the Rush City School. He was a member of the Pine City National Guard Company.
On Oct. 29, 1955 he was united in marriage to Doris Anton to this union one daughter was born. They started square dancing in 1978 and would sometimes dance up to five times a week, holding many offices for the North Branch Squares over the years.
He loved spending time with Doris, his wife of 50 years, camping, taking bus trips, talking, or just driving around listening to old 50ís tapes.
He worked as an assembler most of his life starting at Minneapolis Moline for 25 years until they closed down, then at Onanís for 20 years until he retired and finally for the last 10 years proudly at Wal-Mart in Cambridge. Along with many other jobs.
Clemens is survived by wife Doris, daughter Sheila and husband James Smith, two grandchildren Marcus and Sarah Smith, two sisters, Jean (Orrin) Asklund and Joann (Lloyd) Swedeen and may other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Clemens was held Sunday, Dec. 4 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch from 2 to 5 p.m. A memorial service was held on Monday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund, Minn. with Pastor Brian Bergin officiating. The pallbearers were his nephews Richard Peterson, Dale Anton, Kevin Anton Jay Anton, Shane Swanson, Shad Swanson, Kerry Asklund, Keith Asklund, Kyle Asklund, Todd Swedeen and Keefe Swedeen. Interment was at the Almelund Cemetery.
We love you, Clem, and you will be greatly missed.
