St. Michael-Albertville downs North Branch boys basketball

Strong play for almost four quarters was not enough to get the job done as the North Branch boys fell to St. Michael-Albertville 52-43 on Feb. 11.

The Vikings held a 23-25 lead at halftime after excellent play on both sides of the ball.
But coming out of the locker room the Vikings sputtered, scoring only 7 points while the Knights more than doubled up on them with 16.

ìWe just havenít been coming up with the big shot or if we do, miss the big offensive put back,î said Coach Bill Baumann. ìWe have been playing extremely hard and our defense has been great. But because of lack of aggressiveness on the offensive end we only have one win to show for it.î

Baumann noted that the team has given up only 45 points per game in the last 3 games. The single win was a victory over Pine City on Feb. 4.

The defense helped produce points agains STMA, as the Vikings were able to score 19 points off turnovers. The Knights scored 9.
The Vikings are now 6-15 on the season.
Up next: Feb. 18 at Big Lake, 7:30 p.m.
