Senior driving program offered in Pine City

Posted: 2/2/05

A senior driving improvement class is open to the public Wednesday, Feb. 9, 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at the Pine City High School.
Pre-registration is suggested, but not required.

The four-hour refresher course is for people 55 and older. A Minnesota Highway Safety and Research Center certified instructor teaches the class. Driver safety, confidence and comfort are enhanced by using the most up-to-date research in the field, including the latest visual scanning and steering techniques, anti-lock braking (ABS) skills, airbag information, driver distraction, road rage and new vehicle technology.

The fee is $18.

People who complete the course qualify for a 10 percent discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years, according to Minnesota law.
First-time participants must complete two four-hour sessions. Repeat persons are required to take a four-hour refresher course every three years.
