Spanish immersion public school to hold kindergarten round-up

Posted: 2/2/05

Lakes International Language Academy, a Spanish-immersion public charter school in Forest Lake, invites students entering kindergarten in September 2005 and their parents to attend a Kindergarten Round-up on Feb. 21 at either 12:30 p.m. or 3 p.m. All kindergarteners who have submitted an application should attend, regardless of the studentís acceptance status.

Applications are available online at www.lakesinternational.org or at the school, located at 246 11th Avenue SE. Call the school at (651) 464-0771 to pre-register for Kindergarten Round-up.
Due to inquiries, the school is considering opening a 2005-06 class for first graders without Spanish experience. Interested parents should contact the school and attend one of four upcoming tours: Friday, Feb. 4, at 9:15 a.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 9:15 a.m.; Tuesday, March 15 at 9:15 a.m.; Thursday, April 14 at 11:15 a.m.; and Tuesday, May 10, at 9:15 a.m. All interested parents may attend tours. Reserve tour space by calling the school.
Lakes International Language Academy charges no tuition and accepts students without regard to race or ethnic heritage, religion, academic or athletic performance, just as all public schools do. However, as a charter school, Lakes International limits its class sizes. All prospective students must submit an application, including siblings of existing students. For 2005-06, the school plans to accept up to 20 kindergarten students for each of four sections. Kindergarten students are not expected to have any prior Spanish language knowledge.

More information is available online at www.lakesinternational.org.
