To the editor:
Most Americans arenít the people who invest in the stock market. We need all the money from social security we can get. Itís not like we have a lot left over to play with. Social security has kept generations of seniors out of poverty. It needs strengthening, but not a total overhaul of the system. Changing the social security system in the manner of which our President proposes would drastically cut benefits for everybody. The winners would be people in the stock market and the losers would be everyone else. We need to keep social security in its present form to make sure that there are adequate benefits for all retirees for generations to come.
