At the December meeting of the Chisago County township officers, held at Shafer Township Hall, Gene Olson was presented with the Township Officer of the Year award.

Olson is a supervisor at Lent Township and is a long-time resident of the county.
He is semi-retired, he devotes many hours attending meetings in his county and relays information he gathers to fellow township officers.

Olson is also chairman of the county unit of township officers. This group meets monthly.
Highlights of the monthly meetings are the guest speakers and the ìwhatís happeningî segments, where each township tells about its successes and problems of the past month so they all can learn from each other.
