The St. Francis/North Branch girls hockey team improved to 14-2-2 with a pair of North Suburban onference wins last week, defeating Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony 2-0 on Jan. 4 and Irondale 4-3 on Jan. 7.

The team faced a key test on Jan. 11 when they played conference leader Wright County, one of only two teams to defeat them this year. Results of that contest were not available as this issue went to press.

Goalie Alicia Dressel earned the shutout against Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony (7-10-2) with 16 saves. Haylea Schmid and Carolyn Setter each scored a goal apiece and Schmid also had an assist.

In the match against Irondale (3-13-1), Dressel tallied 26 saves. Goals were scored by Ashley Bliskowski, Carolyn Setter, Neva Widner and Alexandra Zebro, with assists by Alexandra Barton, Setter, Widner and Zebro.
