The Rush City Tigers posted their first conference win of the season over cellar-dweller Ogilvie 49-42 on Jan. 7.
They won in spite of turning the ball over 20 times, thanks to Ogilvieís 2-3 zone defense that rattled the Tigers most of the night.
ìWe didnít take very good care of the basketball. This is plain and simple not acceptable. We need more discipline on the offensive end,î said Coach Gary Dreissig.
Tony Webb had an outstanding shooting night, going 5 for 5 from the field and ending up with 13 points. Jacob Bosman scored 14 and Zack Beck came off the bench to put in 9 points and grab 10 rebounds.
On Jan. 10 the Tigers lost to the state-ranked Barnum Bombers 76-52. The squad played their best ball of the year in the first 12 minutes, keeping pace with the Bombers shot for shot and trailing only 19-17 at the end of the first quarter. A 22-4 run by Barnum in the last half of the second quarter decided the outcome.
Rush Cityís leading scorer was Tony Webb with 12 points. Kevin Bengston had 9 and Zach Beck 8.
