Take a break from winter as the North Branch Area Chamber of Commerce presents ìWinter Festî Feb. 12 - 20. The festivities kick-off with the posting of the first clue for Sun Dentalís Medallion Hunt on Saturday, Feb. 12 in Central Park, at all button sale sites and at www.northbranchchamber.com.
The Winter Fest button promises many great special offers plus $500 for finding the medallion. The clues will be posted daily at 10 a.m. until found. Be sure to buy your buttons from the Boy Scout Pack 411 at Nelsonís Market and Petersonís Farm, Home & Garden on Saturdays. Button sales end on Feb. 11.Ý
Central Park, North Branch will be the site of fun-filled activities for the whole family. Fairview Lakes, North Branch Clinicís Chili Show Down is a treat not to be missed. You can sample mouth-watering chili created by several community service organizations that are competing for the coveted traveling trophy. Enjoy watching award-winning ice sculptors design great sculptures for these sponsors: Andersen Corporation, Anderson & Koch Ford, Grand Casino Hinckley, Provide Care, A/C Electric, Hermann Insurance Services, Jennings, DeWan, Miller & Anderson LLC, NorthStar Access, Tanger Outlet Center, The Flower Shop, Wurdemann Chiropractic and Xcel Energy. Come and help judge fantastic ìold sledsî at the New Central MotorsÇ Vintage Snowmobile Ride & Expo. Bring your sled for a short, pre-expo tour of the Sunrise Prairie Trail; take a ìvictory lapî at the Falcon Ridge SnoCross and display your sled for a chance to win trophies. Kids are invited to bring their families to compete in the S&C Bankís Snowman Sculpting Contest. Have fun in the snow and win awesome prizes. Enjoy a nostalgic ride in a horse-drawn carriage sponsored by Community National Bank and Petersonís Farm, Home & Garden through the back streets of North Branch. All trophies and the door prize drawing, featuring an overnight get-a-way courtesy of Grand Casino Hinckley will be awarded at 2 p.m. Take your family to the municipal rink for Aquilaís Family Ice Skate with Frosty the Snowman. Frosty will be serving refreshments to his guests in the warming shack. The two-day Falcon Ridge SnoCross hosted by the North Branch Sno-Drifters guarantees thrills and spills.Ý
On Sunday, Feb. 13 bring your sled to Stacy in Central Park to enjoy ìSímore Funî sliding with Frosty hosted by Allina Medical Center, North Branch Clinic. Round out the festivities with the Falcon Ridge Sled Dog Races that will be held on Feb. 19 & 20. Enjoy both professional and amateur competition.
