Agnes Novak Anderson

Agnes Novak Anderson was born Sept. 19, 1916 in Pine City Township of Pine County, Minn, and was the daughter of Thomas and Cecilie (Merleen) Novak. She died July 1, 2005 at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center in Wyoming, Minn., at the age of 88 years.

As a young woman, Agnes was employed by Dr. Slaven as a housekeeper and also cared for his handicapped son.

On Sept. 20, 1947, Agnes wed Leonard Edwin Anderson in St. Paul, Minn. Agnes and Ed made their first home in Rock Creek, Minn., and later purchased a home in Rush City, Minn. As a young person she very much enjoyed her home, cooking, and traveling.

When advancing years and ill health forced them to sell their home in the mid-1980ís, they became residents of the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Rush City. Ed died there in 1993, and several years later Agnes moved to Green Acres Country Care Center in North Branch, Minn.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Cecilie Novak, her husband, Ed, her daughter, Frances Ann who died in 2004, and her brother, Albert Novak. She is survived by her nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral service was Wednesday, July 6, at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City, Minnesota with Pastor Lyn Sahr officiating. Pastor Sahr also provided music for the service. Casket bearers were Philip Friday, Dennis Bonk, Donald Bonneville, Larry Anderson, Eugene Anderson, and Duane Anderson. Interment was at the Birchwood Cemetery in Pine City. Arrangements were by the Funeral and Cremation Service, Olson Chapel, Rush City, Minn.
