TO THE EDITOR:
We moved to the Stacy/North Branch area nine years ago. I had retired from a career in law enforcement and we wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city life.
It worked very well for a couple of years. Unfortunately, the building boom reached our area. We have been invaded by the ìmodernî parents who apparently believe that being free means that they can pick and choose which laws should be obeyed.
They buy snowmobiles and four-wheelers for their children and turn them loose on the roads in the area. When the Fourth of July comes around, they by fireworks out of state and the area sounds like a war zone. Our dog doesnít want to go outside.
All of these activities are illegal, but that doesnít seem to matter.
Nobody wants it to happen, but should a child get injured or killed while participating in this parent-allowed illegal activity, we feel so sorry for the poor parents, instead of charging them with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Something is wrong here.
When the current children have their own families, after being taught itís okay to pick and choose the laws that should be obeyed, it will only get worse.
