TO THE EDITOR:
It is disgraceful that five Supreme Court justices took away our property rights while our sons and daughters fight and die to secure freedom from tyrants and thugs.
In response, Chisago County commissioners should pledge not to throw a Chisago County resident out of their home for the benefit of a private development even though five Supreme Court justices say itís okay.
The Founding Fathers supported the right of eminent domain for ěpublic useî not for ěprivate profit.î They wanted to be secure in their homes. They did not want to be ruled, to have their lives decided by whim of a despot or elected official.
Our commissioners should promise not to act like King George. They should promise to only use their right of eminent domain if a property is needed for a ěpublic use.î
