TO THE EDITOR:
Last November, and my first day on the job, I wrote a letter to the editor commenting the generosity of the Cambridge citizens and business community.
After seven months in the position of volunteer coordinator for New Pathways, Inc., I am still continuously amazed by the support of the local businesses here, and the surrounding communities in their efforts to help homeless families in rural Minnesota.
On behalf of New Pathways, Inc., I would like to thank the Grandy Lions Club and Lumberland for their donation of a shed, which we needed desperately to make more room for our guest familiesí belongings.
There is a closeness here that is closer than houses set in a row on a quiet street.
There is a golden warmth more golden than sunshine, and a beautiful friendliness that is tender and sweet.
One for another when the need is the greatest. And there is the willingness of community service that is given and accepted both day or night.
ěNearbyî is a word to fit these country neighbors, nearby physically, and so very near spiritually in their understanding of the hearts of one another.
There are neighbors still across the earth willing to share their tables, roof and emotional support.
There are business leaders and citizens here in Cambridge that lead by example. New Pathways, Inc., thanks all of you.
