John William Anderson

John William Anderson died at Green Acres Nursing Home in North Branch, Minn. on July 8, 2005, having reached the age of 89 years.

John was born to Charles R. and Elizabeth (Harty) Anderson on June 11, 1916 and grew up in the area of Rock Creek, Minn.

John lived most of his married life in Rush City, Minn. and after retiring, enjoyed heading to Arizona for 20 plus winters.

He played amateur baseball for 24 years and never lost his love for the game. He also loved fishing, making many trips to Canada and Sand Lake to his daughtersí cabins. He also made it to the Arctic fishing with his son. Dancing was another favorite of Johnís, one he passed on to his children. John also enjoyed playing cards with his group of friends, especially cribbage and pinochle.

John was employed as a butter maker/creamery manager for 20 years, worked at Federal Cartridge for 9 years and Rush City Schools for 8 years.

John is survived by his loving wife of 67 1/2 years, Jeanette, three daughters, Joan Golden, Dallas, TX, Joyce (Gordy) Goebel, Dayton, Minn., Janet Olafson, Mendota Heights, four sons, John (Ellen) Anderson, Fort Francis, Ontario, Canada, Jerrol (Marilyn) Anderson, Cottage Grove, Minn., Jerome (Barb) Anderson, Big Lake, Minn., and Joel (Pat) Anderson, Coon Rapids, Minn., 15 grandchildren and five great- grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and one sister in-law, Sarah Anderson of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Albert, Arthur, Arvid, Arnold and Alfon, one sister, Charlotte Stoffel, two grandchildren, Darin Anderson and Carolyn Anderson, one daughter in law, Sharon Anderson, one son-in-law, Bill Golden, three nieces and six nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 12, at 1st Lutheran Church in Rush City with the Reverend Laurie OíShea officiating. Singer Eddy Pangerl also played fiddle and accordion and the piano player was Christa Anderson. Honorary casket bearers were grandchildren Kristina Leier, Ryan Olafson, Britta Anderson, Kim Pandak, Bret Anderson, Andy Anderson, Neil Anderson, and Eric Anderson.

Casket bearers were grandchildren Jack Anderson, Grant Olafson, Kirk Goebel, Kyle Nagel, Reed Anderson, John Anderson, Jr., and Michael Anderson. Burial was at Birchwood Cemetery in Pine City, Minn.. Arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral & Cremation Service, Olson Chapel, Rush City, Minn.
