Chisago Lakes Community Education and Prairie Fire Childrenís Theatre are co-sponsoring a one-week theater workshop. Under professional direction, children in grades K-12 will audition, rehearse and perform an original musical production of the exotic classic ìAladdin & His Magic Lamp.î

This fine arts workshop will be held Aug. 14-19 at Chisago Lakes High School. Auditions will be held Monday, Aug. 14, 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. for up to 81 local children to play the roles of Aladdin, the mother of Harmonia, the Princess Serena, the Sultan, the Vizier, the Genie of the Ring, Zanda the Tiger, the Giant Gemstones, the Vagabonds, the Maidens of the Palace and the Slaves of the Lamp and Ring. The cast will be announced at the end of the session. Assistant directors are also needed to run sound and lights.

Singers and non-singers are encouraged to audition as well as those interested in dance.Ý
Two professionals from Prairie Fire Theatre will act in and direct the show. Joshua Meier, from Elgin, Ill., will play the role of Ýthe Evil Magician and Heather Starns, from Milwaukee, Wisc., will play the role of the Genie of the Lamp.

Prairie Fire Childrenís Theatre is a professional troupe which specializes in week-long residencies throughout the Midwest.

Rehearsals will be 8:30-12:30 a.m. throughout the remainder of the week, with a performance scheduled Friday, Aug.19 at 7 p.m. Pre-registration is necessary.
