Young scientists were hard at work and play last week at North Branch Middle School during Flight Academy, a program sponsored by Community Education.
During class the students built a variety of flying devices and topped off the week with a rocket launch. McKinley Long, 8, (left) and Chris Dvergsten, 7, (right) react as teacher Kathy Todd fires up a noisy hovercraft. The craft elevated about three inches off the floor and took the two for a ride.
The Flight Academy is a program of Mad Science, a St. Paul-based company that offers workshops and classes on a variety of science-related topics for kids.
