From NB School district
This yearís classes of North Branch students scored higher on the Minnesota Basic Skills Test this year than did their counterparts last year, according to Minnesota Department of Education results released this spring.
The percentage of eighth grade students who passed the reading and math tests increased from last year from 82 percent to 88 percent in reading and from 75 percent to 79 percent in math.
Additionally, in the tenth grade written composition tests, high school students achieved a 95 percent passage rate. At the Area Learning Center, 13 out of 13 students in 10th grade and 3 out of 3 students in 11th grade passed the test, and at the North Gate campus, 4 out of 5 10th grade students passed the test.
ìCongratulations to the hard working staffs at all grade levels in the school district who have been part of the education of these students,î said Rodney Reisnouer, assistant superintendent.
All students must pass the Basic Skills test to graduate from high school. Students take the reading and math tests beginning in eighth grade, and continue to take the tests each year until they pass them. Students take the writing test starting in 10th grade.
