Your input is wanted for organizing a new ěFriends of the Sunrise Riverî citizensí group. The startup meeting is scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 1 p.m.-2 p.m. at Kost Dam Park in Chisago County.
Come if you have concerns about this river.
The group will talk about the river, its watershed, needs and concerns, and the roles for a citizen-based stewardship group. Its mission could be stewardship of the Sunrise River and its watershed via public events, and maybe a newsletter.
Bring an idea or graphic for a logo. The group can vote on it that day.
They could possibly do one other 2005 event - maybe early October- a river cleanup. The Friends could adopt a segment or two of the river also.
And how about an annual ěJam at the Damî music (and raspberry jam?) festival? People are welcome to go paddling on the river afterward, at their own discretion.
