TO THE EDITOR:
This letter is in response to the article that appeared in the local media regarding an investigation in the County Attorneyís office. First, I would like to clarify that there were not four attorneys that left the office in late 2004 and early 2005, there were two.
One secretary and the office manager also resigned.
In 2002 when I was elected County Attorney I came into office with certain expectations and they are: 1) that employees should perform an honest days work for an honest days pay; 2) that technology should be utilized to save taxpayer dollars, provide better service to the community and allow for more accurate and timely handling of cases; 3) promotions should be based on merit.
Therefore I promoted people who showed leadership, a strong work ethic and were committed to working for the citizens of Chisago County.
I am proud of the staff in the County Attorneyís office and the accomplishments that we have made. Our mission is to seek justice, promote public safety by prosecuting crime, protecting those in need, and representing the interests of Chisago County.
The citizens of Chisago County can rest assured that I and my very competent and capable staff will do our best to fulfill this mission.
Katherine M. Johnson
Chisago County Attorney
