North Branch will send eight athletes to the state track and field meet after capturing championships in four events and second place in one event at the section 7AA meet last Saturday in Cambridge.

First place finishers were Al Moore, triple jump; Joe Lofboom, pole vault; Billy Oehlers, shot put; and the 4x800 relay team of Nick Ramberg, Nick Sausen, Aaron Cedergren and Cody Good.

Jenny Anderson placed a qualifying second in the 100m hurdles and will make her second appearance at state in that event.
The state meet will be held this Friday and Saturday at the National Sports Center in Blaine.

The boys and girls teams each placed seventh in the 14-team field.

The North Branch squad already has state championship experience under its belt this season, having competed in the True Team state meet May 21, also in Blaine. All eight athletes who will be competing this weekend won championships in their events at that meet, which was sponsored by the coaches' association. This weekend's meet is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League.
