To the editor:
I figured better late than never to respond to the bitterness of the articles on snow plowing and road conditions.
First of all, I appreciate the fact that the men driving the plow trucks get up at 2 a.m. and venture out into sometimes extreme conditions to plow the roads so when I get up for work, I know that I can get there. What are we complaining about?
We must realize that there are only so many men to drive those plow trucks and if we had them driving around the clock, do we even want to think about how even more dangerous the roads would be. Think about itÖhuge plow trucksÖtired men behind the wheelÖdoes that spell dangerous to youÖit does to me!
As far as four wheel drive goes, I do have it but, I choose to respect the roads and the weather conditions. When it sounds like weíre really in for a storm, I just go home where I know itís safe, I donít stay out driving where I have no business. I really donít think thereís any place we have to be unless of course, itís an emergency. Instead of driving around when it isnít necessary, letís get off of the road and let these people do their job! I mean, come on, what gives? We live in Minnesota here!
I could go on and on about this subject being that one thought leads to another but why? Itís so simple, where do you want your tax dollars to go - for extra unnecessary snow plowing when there isnít even enough to plow, or fixing our roads with those terrible potholes in the summer. Perhaps we should have thought about spending our tax dollars on our rough roads instead of blowing money on three, yes count them, three new libraries that we didnít need seeing as the internet has more information that one could ever need or use! There is no question who makes more sense here. Iím sure Iím not alone in my opinions.
Lastly, and obviously, my personal opinion is letís spend more time thanking those great men and less time criticizing everything they do! Guys, there are those of us who really appreciate what you do! I know I can say itÖTHANK YOU!
