North Branch senior Jeremy Bergerson ended his high school wrestling career last weekend with his third straight trip to the state tournament and ended up one win away from earning a medal.
In the first round the 215-pounder faced #3 ranked Tyler Hemmesch from Elk River and lost via a technical fall. In the second round, Bergerson rebounded to defeat Matt Randsell from Osseo, 6-1. In the round to determine medalists, Bergerson battled Patrick Mahan from Owatonna and lost a close 4-3 decision.
"Although Jeremy was unable to reach his goal of a medal, he did a fantastic job representing North Branch," said Coach Tony Aho.
"Many wrestlers are unable to reach the state tournament once, let alone three times. When one does make it, he has to have everything go his way to be successful. Unfortunately, Jeremy came up just short, but should be very proud of his accomplishments."
