Charles Linwood Robar

Charles Linwood Robar died at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn. on March 1, 2005, at the age of 89, from injuries sustained from an automobile accident.

Funeral services for Chuck Robar were held Friday, March 4, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Rush City with Rev. Steve Tischer officiating. Organist Pat Stenmo accompanied soloist Diane Volk. Honorary casket bearers included Chuckís ìmorning coffee buddiesî: Dean Goebel, Frank Strelow, Loring Nelson, Marlyn Moses, Bill Sandberg, Bill Schneider, Ray Schoeberl, Marlin Holmberg, Gary Miller, Dean Bengtston and Mike Carroll. Active casket bearers included Chad Buehring, Brandon Buehring, Justin Buehring, Blake Buehring, Marcos Montes De Oca and Randy Benolken with the interment in the St. Johnís Lutheran Cemetery at Rush Lake. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral & Cremation Service of Rush City, Minnesota ìOlson Chapel.î

Charles was born April 28, 1915 in Detroit, Mich., the son of Charles Henry and Rose (Hlovek) Robar.

On June 21, 1940, Charles was united in marriage to Floureine McGoon, at Hinckley, Minn. During their married life they traveled a great deal due to his employment with the Great Northern Railroad. They made their first homes in Superior, Wisc., and Williston, No. Dak. They were also residents for 27 years in Devils Lake, No. Dak., and upon Charles retirement in 1975, they moved to Moore Haven Florida, where they lived for 21 years. In 1995, they moved to Rush City, where they have lived since that time.

Charles was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a current member of the Jasper Masonic Lodge #164 of Rush City, the Shrine, the Order of Eastern Star Jasper Chapter #28 of Rush City, Oddfellows, Lions Club International, Rush Point Leisure Club, We ëRí Able of Chisago County, Seven County Senior Federation. He volunteered with several organizations, being particularly active with the American Cancer Society. Chuck enjoyed attending activities at the Chisago County Senior Center in North Branch and was known for his ability to cook whenever they had a potluck. In his home, one entire room is filled with cookbooks!

Chuck, as he was known to everyone who met him, loved visiting with people. He was a very caring and giving person. He hardly ever missed a morning going for coffee to meet with the guys. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling in their motor home, in which he and Fluoreine took many trips across the United States.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Phyllis Buehring of Rush City, niece Pam Tichy and her husband Ron of Eagan, nephew Nick Buehring and his wife Diane of Rush City, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Fluoreine, parents Charles and Rose Robar, mother-in-law Florence McGoon, brother Joseph ìCliffî Robar, brother-in-laws Ed Buehring and Jack McGoon.
