On Monday, Feb. 28, the Chisago County Sheriffís office was called to an accident with injuries at the intersection of South Field Avenue and West 8th Street in Rush City.
The accident involved two vehicles and personal injury. Initial investigation indicates that a Ford pickup driven by Samantha Luckoff, 16, of Rush City was traveling west on West 8th when a Ford Explorer, driven by Charles Robar, 89, of Rush City, stopped for the stop sign at West 8th St. and then pulled out into the path of the oncoming pickup and was struck in the driverís door.
Rush City Fire Department was called and assisted in extricating Robar from his vehicle. He was transported by Lakes Region Emergency Medical Services to Fairview Lakes Wyoming Medical Center and then flown by air ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center. The sheriffís report noted that Robar died from apparent accident-related injuries at the hospital.
A passenger in the pickup, Katie Widman, 15, of Rush City, was transported to the Wyoming hospital and treated for minor injuries and released, according to the sheriffís report.
The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriffís office.
