NB FFA did well at state convention

Posted: 5/11/05

From April 24 ñ April 25, many members of the North Branch FFA had the opportunity to participate in the 76th MN State FFA Convention.

For North Branch, the excitement began with Career Development Events on Monday, April 25. Sixteen members competed in four different contests. Representing North Branch on the Fish and Wildlife team were: Derek Hanson, Josh Harding, Sean Hesse, and Aaron Johnson. The Fish and Wildlife team was ranked 20th out of 45 teams competing, with Aaron Johnson recognized as the 14th place individual.

Competing on the Horse Evaluation team were: Alyssa Bjorklund, Amanda Hackl, Kayla Vondelinde, and Sheri Wilcox. The Horse team was ranked 25th among 50 teams competing. Amanda Heinonen competed as an individual in the Floriculture CDE, receiving 17th place among 130 members competing. Katie Carlson, Alisha Heitland, Katherine Swenson, Lisa Swenson, and Sara Swenson competed on the General livestock team, which ranked 39th among 55 teams competing.

On Monday evening, Amanda Heinonen attended the annual MN FFA awards night in Northrop Auditorium. It was at this event where she received her MN FFA State Degree. The MN FFA Degree is the highest award that an active member can receive from the MN FFA association. This was also the first state degree awarded to a member of the North Branch FFA in over 20 years. Heinonen also received recognition for her gold award in the sheep production proficiency. Congratulations to the NB FFA and all of its members for a job well done throughout the past year!
